Overview

Transforming Whey into Opportunity : A Practical Approval to Innovation

This workshop, organised under the EU-funded Resource Efficiency and Circularity Programme, is delivered in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture of Zahle and Bekaa. It focuses on practical and innovative ways to turn whey—a major by-product of Lebanon’s dairy industry—into valuable products and new business opportunities.

Through expert insights, product demonstrations, and interactive discussions, participants will:

  • Understand the nutritional, functional, and economic value of whey.
  • Explore low-cost valorisation techniques adapted to the Lebanese context.
  • Gain hands-on exposure to whey-based product innovations and sensory evaluation.
  • Identify strategies to reduce environmental impact while diversifying revenue streams.
